  • Parking Issues at Ewell Family Centre

Thu 02 Feb 2023 Dan Smith

Over the past few weeks we have experienced a number of issues regarding the parking, driving and general behaviour of people using the car park.

CCTV is in use in the car park and we have witnessed people without a blue badge parking in the disabled bay, parking inside the seating area, parking on the pathway blocking cars, blocking cars generally , squeezing 2 cars inside the disabled bay, even parking on the flower beds and parking in the emergency vehicle access road to school.

Whilst we do understand the pressures on parking and that it can seem easier to park outside of marked bays ‘just for a minute’, it is exceptionally dangerous and by doing so people are jeopardising the safety of everyone.

Apart from the damage to the edging of the pedestrian pathway we are very concerned that if we allow this to continue a child will get hurt and this cannot be allowed to happen.

Following discussions between the Centre Manager, Mrs Atkins (Head Teacher) and the Governing Body of our school and nursery site about these concerns, it has been decided that the car park will now be closed to all visitors until further notice. There is plenty of parking on the road, and for the safety of everyone, we hope that you will agree that this is an appropriate action for the centre/school to take. Please share this message with your family and friends.

If you are a blue badge holder or feel it is essential you park inside the car park please contact the centre to make arrangements for you to access the disabled bay (0208 337 7310 Option 1).

Please note that the Community Fridge remains and daily updates will continue to be sent to advise you of the available food.

    Thank you
